Final round table “Accessible environment within the NGOs’ projects”
On August 10th the final round table of the project “Social Lego” was conducted in the department of social and medical care for the elderly and disabled people of the center “Istoki”. The project is being implemented since April 13, 2017 by the Charitable Fund “Health of Karelia” in partnership with the public office of social service Centre “Istoki” and a non-commercial partnership “Karelian resource Centre of non-governmental organizations”. Co-financing is carried out by the Pskov regional public organization “Chudskoy project” within the framework of the project “Friendly cities: urban natural and cultural environment accessible to disabled people.
The aim of the project is to improve the level of functionality of the environment at the territory adjacent to the Center “Istoki” for classes for disabled people. In this way, during the realization of the project the platform for training of orientation and mobility, for eco-therapy, health care were built and also psychological counseling, leisure time, health activities and lessons on adaptive physical culture were organized.
The representatives of authorities, public organizations, social and educational institutions, engineering centers, libraries, museums and tourist sphere took part in this event. Besides, O. Vasilenko, the head of the Pskov regional public organization “Chudskoye project” visited the round table.
At the beginning of the event the participants had an excursion to the Center, they also saw the territory after planned events within the project. During the event the representatives of the Center “Istoki” told about the work and offices of organization, about different projects and the realization of the “Social Lego”. The representatives of the Charitable Fund “Health of Karelia” told about the fund work and socially important projects which the Fund had been implementing from the moment of its foundation in the February 2000.
The Pskov regional public organization “Chudskoye project” also finances the project of Karelian resource Centre of non-governmental organizations “Petrozavodsk - a park for your health”, within which the environment for Markelov outdoor fitness equipment was prepared in the Governor’s Park and an audio excursion was created. It can be listened by everybody using app “izi.TRAVEL”. Moreover the representative of the public office Center "Rodnik" shared his experience in creating an accessible environment in the territory of their institution.
The round table was closed with a debate during which the participants exchanged experience and expressed their suggestions and comments on the creation of an accessible environment and the need to implement various projects in this area by non-profit organizations.
The Pskov regional public organization “Chudskoye project” will soon launch a new competition of NGO projects in the sphere of creating an accessible environment for people with disabilities.
