The project won the “Industrial Experiment” competition of the Vladimir Potanin Charitable Foundation. The Karelian Resource Center for Public Associations is one of the project partners.
The project team began preparing a tourist route through the mining and industrial heritage sites. Team members and representatives from the tourism sector met last week to discuss the future of the route. The meeting was attended by Tatyana Tselikova, head of the travel company "Saaristo Tour", and Yulia Korableva, employee of the Karelia Tourist Information Center. Meeting participants discussed possible sites to include in the route, logistics, accommodation options and tour duration.
This fall, an information tour is planned along the developed route for representatives of tourism companies in Karelia. For questions about participation, write to Ksenia Chumak.
In addition, work continues on the creation of a website with an interactive map, which will indicate the most interesting and accessible mine workings and ruined mining facilities.
