Visit to the Republic of Tatarstan

From July 16 to 19, the delegation from Karelia is on a working trip to Kazan. The delegation included the head of the House of Friendship of Peoples of the Republic of Karelia Elena Orekhova, deputy director of the Karelian Resource Center for Public Associations Ksenia Chumak, head of the Historical and Local Lore Museum of the Suoyarvi District Yulia Potekhina, employee of the Tatar Culture Society “Chulpan” Evgenia Kazakova.

On July 17, the delegation members were met at the House of Friendship of the Peoples of Tatarstan. A meeting was held with director Irek Ildusovich Sharipov and deputy director Natalya Viktorovna Myasnikova.

The delegation was given a tour of the premises of the House of Friendship. Meetings were held with the chairman of the Russian National-Cultural Association Irina Aleksandrovskaya and the director of the Pushkin Cultural Center Galina Elistratova, the chairmen of the national-cultural autonomies of Uzbeks and Tajiks Abdumanob Abdusatarov and Sabriddin Toirov.

Deputy Director of the Multinational Sunday School Leysan Safiullina spoke about Tatarstan’s experience in preserving languages.

At the end of the visit, a master class on dances of the peoples of the Volga region was held, organized by the Honored Artist of Tatarstan Gulnara Gimaeva.

The trip was organized within the framework of the project “Interethnic relations in the modern world: new challenges - solutions”, implemented with the support of the Grant Fund of the Head of the Republic of Karelia.
