Presentation of the book “We Are Still Alive”
On July 26, a presentation of the book “We are still alive - the fate of former juvenile prisoners of fascist concentration camps” took place at the House of Friendship of Peoples of the Republic of Karelia.
Sergey Viktorovich Kiselev, Minister of National and Regional Policy of Karelia, Elena Yuryevna Orekhova, Director of the House of Friendship of Peoples of Karelia, Nikolay Georgievich Oskin, General Director of the Association “Karelian Resource Center of Public Associations”, Ekaterina Petrovna Isakova, Director of the Grant Fund addressed the participants of the presentation with welcoming words Heads of the Republic of Karelia.
The event was held by Yuri Viktorovich Shleikin, editor of the publication. The author and compiler of the book, Klavdiya Aleksandrovna Nyuppieva, chairman of the Karelian Union of Former Juvenile Prisoners of Nazi Concentration Camps until 2022, spoke to the audience. The creators told the story of the collection, where the name came from, and what materials were included in the book. The central part of the book is devoted to the memories and stories of families from Karelia and the Leningrad region, forcibly placed in Finnish camps.
The collection “We are still alive - the fates of former juvenile prisoners of fascist concentration camps” was prepared as part of the project “Interethnic relations in the modern world: new challenges - solutions”, implemented with the support of the Grant Fund of the Head of the Republic of Karelia.
