The second research trip to the Shunga section
On June 26-27, the second visit of specialists to the Shunga mine took place within the framework of the Karelia Industrial: New Dimensions project with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund.
The main purpose of the trip was to continue collecting scientific material about the unique shungite tunnel in the Zaonezhsky village of Shunga.
The Shunga Section is a specially protected natural area, research at the facility has been coordinated with the project partner, the Directorate of Specially Protected Natural Areas.
The study of the object coincided with the camp of 3rd year students of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Geography and Tourism of the Leningrad State University named after A.S. Pushkin." The guys managed to join the research group, inspect the tunnel, and help collect samples. The guys also collected and took out the garbage from the tunnel.
The result of the research trips will be a report with recommendations on the further use of the facility for educational purposes and in tourism. The next departure is scheduled for autumn.
