Ksenia Chumak, a representative of KRCLC took part in the festival. At the section ‘Land of Kalevala: tourism projects and territorial development’ Ksenia made a report ‘Mountain-industrial heritage of Karelia in project activities’, presenting the experience of implementation of grant projects of the Presidential Grants Foundation, Potanin Foundation and Rosmolodezh.

Local history readings have started!

On 3 March, the Pitkyaranta City Library hosted the first local history readings of the project ‘Industrial Karelia: New Dimensions’.

The lecture was devoted to the sights of Lyaskelskoye and Kharlu settlements, including objects of mining and industrial heritage. The class was conducted by Tatiana Grigorieva, head of the Local History Club ‘Obereg’, a member of the project team.

Ksenia Chumak, the project coordinator, told about the goals and objectives and the main planned activities. Sortavala district does not belong to the target areas of the project, but it has a large number of objects of mining and industrial heritage on its territory.

During the project implementation we have conducted expedition trips to 4 Arctic regions of Karelia, a trial tour along the developed route with the participation of the winners of the creative competition and experts in the field of tourism, more than 10 lectures with schoolchildren, collected a huge number of fascinatingly beautiful samples of Karelian minerals, photos and video materials.
